Jim Carroll

President, AGMDC

Jim Carroll

Jim leads AGMDC, the MMIC and microwave design division of AmpliTech Group, where his team designs GaAs and GaN amplifiers, passives, and RF subsystems spanning DC to 50 GHz for satellite communications, defense, and 5G applications, from concept through foundry tape-out to delivered, tested hardware. The division specializes in MMIC design and tape-out with leading GaAs and GaN foundries; low noise amplifiers, power amplifiers, and passives pushed to the performance edge of each process; RF subsystem integration for satcom ground terminals and gateways, including Q-band and other mmWave work; and a design-for-production discipline that ensures lab performance translates to volume manufacturing.

Jim’s career spans both sides of the RF industry— engineering leadership at Texas Instruments, TriQuint, and Raytheon, followed by commercial roles at AWR and Akash Systems, where he learned how design tools and space hardware get funded, sold, and shipped. At AGMDC he combines both, running the division’s P&L and building a team that delivers flight-worthy, production-ready hardware on schedule. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M and is completing an Executive MBA at SMU Cox (2027), and has been active in the RF and microwave community for over 30 years, including chairing sessions at IEEE BCICTS.
